Q. What are the rules for road legal number plates in Ireland?

A. The exact rules regarding the special format of vehicle registration plates are set down in Irish law under the (SI 318/92 Vehicle Registration and Taxation Regulations 1992 and subsequently amended by SI 432/99 Vehicle Taxation (Amendment) Regulations 1999). This law outlines the format, dimensions and technical specifications that must be displayed on registered vehicles in Ireland.

The main requirements of the rules about the format of vehicle registration plates are:

  • The registration number consisting of numbers and letters must be in black on a white reflective background
  • The name of the county of registration must be in Irish, (examples are Baile Átha Cliath, Corcaigh, etc.)
  • The flag of the EU and the letters "IRL" must be placed on the left-hand side of the plate, the flag comprising 12 gold stars in a circle, the letters in white beneath it, all on a blue reflective background. No other numbers, letters, marks, etc., should appear on your registration plate.

Q. How do I pay for my plates?

A. You can pay for your plates on line using PayPal. PayPal protects your financial information with industry-leading security and fraud prevention systems. When you use PayPal, your financial information is not shared with us. Once your payment is complete, you will be emailed a receipt.

Alternatively you can call +353(95)30615 to pay for your plates using Laser or credit card from 9-6 Mon to Fri or 9-2 on Saturdays. We do not store your card details and once your payment is processed we will have no record of your details.

Q. When will I receive my plates?

A. All orders received by 1 p.m. will be despatched the same day. All orders received after 1 p.m. or over the weekend will be despatched the next working day. An Post will generally deliver your order within Ireland to you within 1-2 working days. International delivery times vary.

Q. What is your returns policy?

A. Customer satisfaction with every order is our priority. As plates are made to order only damaged or incorrectly printed plates may be returned. Please check your order carefully before placing it as we cannot be responsible for customer error. However if the error is on our side please contact us by phone or email as soon as possible and we will work quickly to rectify our error. All requests for replacement must be made within 14 days of receipt of your order.

A. Yes we do. Call us from 9-6 Mon - Fri, 9-2 Saturdays to place your order. We will be happy to assist you in designing your plate and placing your order.
